Our position on honour-based violence

In Switzerland, apart from mediatised homicides, honour-based forms of violence are hardly an issue. Therefore, there is a lack of specialised discourse that would contribute to the development of specific solutions. It is urgent that women and men affected by honour-based violence are protected, advised and supported.

To prevent honour-based violence and support those already affected, TERRE DES FEMMES Switzerland calls for:

• raising awareness among and providing instruments for experts and public authorities;
• information and prevention campaigns for those affected, their families and the general public;
• the factual recognition of honour-based violence as a reason for asylum.
