«Edna Adan - How women change the world»
from 25 November until 10 December 2010
- Report on VOIX DES FEMMES with Edna Adan

The voice of Edna Adan Ismail bestowed our VOIX DES FEMMES with an impressive debut. The founder of a Somaliland maternity hospital, the «Edna Adan Maternity Hospital», is regarded as a pioneer in the fight against female genital mutilation.
Passionate commitment can change the world: Edna Adan Ismail was honoured for this, receiving numerous human rights awards and honorary titles; her name has already been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.
TERRE DES FEMMES Switzerland invited Edna Adan during her campaign against female genital mutilation. Within the scope of the occasions for VOIX DES FEMMES 2010, the objective was to shed light on and compare the conditions and effects of FGM as well as the possibilities for prevention and, through dialogues, to learn from valuable experiences. We are pursuing a joint visionary objective: to ensure that FGM and other forms of gender-based violence finally become a thing of the past.
